City of Souls (Soul Court Ascension #1) by Mel Harding-Shaw: Final Review

★★★★.5 (4.5) Character Overview/Rating:   Helaine:   Good lord did she develop over the course of the book and honestly, I am not mad about it. The back story on Hel but, what we do know is that she is running from her father who is obviously very powerful and searching for her for some odd reason. Within the book she starts out by working for the guardians of the city and of course catches the eye of Daddy Bastion.  I honestly stan the whole vibe of Hel, she is obviously very lost and alone and the one time that she actually finds peace she learns that she has just been used most of the time.. This book and this character literally made me fall in love.  Likability: 8.5 Character Growth: 5 (Hel is able to grow a little but not much, she starts to open up more but in the next book I would love to see her truly open more and grow!)  Bastion:   Bast is a necromancer who is the Lord of the City of Souls, he has a very bad reputation surrounding him d...
